It is pretty obvious at this point that Lunch Bucket Joe is just barely able to keep track of himself most days. That leaves the very close circle of minders whirling in the background with the real power. So how did Kamala Harris get shoved into such a tight spot? Being made the point person for the shit show at the border is a job that no one wants to have.

Jill Biden has squirmed away.  If you remember, she was supposed to head up a task force to reunite separated illegal border children with their families. She saw the self imposed trap for what it was and managed to extricate herself from what is definitely a danger-close engagement.

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden pledged, after her husband was sworn into office, to lead a task force to reunite child migrants separated from their families at the United States-Mexico border under Trump-era immigration, with relatives in the United States, but activists who planned to work with the First Lady’s office say she’s “backed away” and “disappeared” from the effort.

After watching the slow motion explosion that is going on down there, she realized the direness of the situation and kept well clear. So how did Kamala get roped into doing something that is already a black eye?

The answer may be that the good Doctor Jill Biden sees herself as the next Edith Wilson.

In the early days of America, presidential first ladies were hostesses at the White House.  In recent decades, they’re goodwill ambassadors for feel-good causes.  One exception to this rule was Edith Wilson, who, in 1919, appointed herself as acting president when her husband, Woodrow Wilson, was felled by a stroke in the second-to-last year of his administration.  It’s beginning to appear that Jill Biden, married to a decaying, increasing mentally incapacitated man, has chosen Edith as her role model.

It has already been noted that either Jill Biden or Kamala Harris are always hovering around the clueless Joe. For Kamala it is obviously a way to be seen as in the wings. She could always plop into the seat at the head of the table because she has been involved and knows the day to day affairs. Jill on the other hand has been seen as the protecting mom figure.

That might not be the case though. Jill may be the one that really wants the power and found a way to push Kamala out into the front lines. This could be a way to not only cement herself as the real broker but also forces Harris to get covered in the muck of the battlefield. If true it is a pretty shrewd play. Especially after Kamala has been the one picking up the slack in other areas.

We should be able to see in the next few weeks. If this is Jill’s play for the throne, she will probably start leaking tidbits to the press that don’t show Harris in such a great light. Kamala would gradually be pushed into the background as Jill becomes the gateway to the president.

This may also become visible in other areas too. Cabinet posts that were put into place by former president Obama would need to be pushed to the margins as Jill insulates herself.

This could be a very interesting time.
