U.S. Led Coalition Strikes Another Blow Against ISIS
The coalition eliminated the highest ranking member of ISIS in Iraq. From the Military Times:
A U.S.-led coalition air strike killed the top remaining Islamic State leader in Iraq, said Col. Wayne Marotto, spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve.
“Abu Yasir, the most senior Daesh leader in Iraq, was killed during an air strike near Kirkuk, Jan. 27, 2021,” Marotto announced via a tweet Friday morning.

This is great news. We cannot let ISIS gain a foothold and establish another quasi state in the Middle East. The repercussions of the last Islamic state were felt world wide. Would be jihadists poured into the region from Africa, Britain, and even the United States.
Then the unforeseen problem of jihadi brides raised its head as well. Several countries were put in uncomfortable positions when they had to decide whether to let them back in or not. Trying to thread the needle on that situation with large populations of Islamic refugees is not an enviable place.
