The Special Envoy to Gay Rights Better Get Busy In Muslim Countries
I am generally against social engineering by the state. Unfortunately, for a lot of people that get put into power, that is the first thing they want to do. The new Secretary of State Antony Blinken has ordered LBGT flags flown at Embassies around the world. Okay. fine. I’m honestly not sure what that does except virtue signal.
A quick digression though. I am not anti-gay. What you do in private is what you do. As long as all parties agree to it, then have a ball. But I don’t really understand right specifically for LGBTQ people. I remember having a discussion about this some time ago when gay marriage was hotly debated. The argument presented to me was that gays don’t have the same rights as straights, because they can’t marry who they want to. I disagreed. I still do. I don’t know of any law that says you “get to marry who you want to.” So, a gay man could marry a woman just like I could. What they were really arguing for was recognition of that relationship by the state. To which I asked why the state was involved in marriage at all?
The same goes for any other illegal act against any particular group. If it is illegal to kill people, then the LGBTQ crowd is covered in the no killing thing. But, the argument goes, people are killed because they are gay. I got that, but men are killed for sleeping with other men’s wives too. I don’t think we need a carve out for them.
Back to the issue at hand. Muslims in countries that aspire to have Sharia Law as their guidebook, single out gays in particular. Over at The Religion of Peace website they ask a pertinent question:
What is Islam’s position on the treatment of homosexuals?
Islam goes beyond merely disapproving of homosexuality. Sharia teaches that homosexuality is a vile form of fornication, punishable by death.
Head over there for more information. They go on to quote the areas in the Quran and Hadiths that support the extremist’s view. In case you think they don’t take this serious, here is an example out of Libya:
A video of Muslim men throwing accused homosexuals from a rooftop in Libya was posted to Twitter by a local journalist on Sunday. The act was done as a form of punishment for disobeying the Sharia law, a strict interpretation of an Islamic set of principles, according to Tarek Fatah.
So, showing your wokeness to safe crowds in the west is pretty weak sauce to me. Head over to where the real issues are and get to work. I would also recommend opening the aperture a little. Instead of concentrating on just the killing of homosexuals, try to stop the widespread killing in general. They do the same to infidels, adulterers, and girls that go to school.
