The Chaos and Confusion Administration
Politicians that run campaigns based on restoring law and order often win. Rudy Giuliani emphasized petty crime in his 1993 mayoral campaign and went on to become “America’s Mayor.” Richard Nixon also used it successfully in 1968 to win the White House.
The promises made by the Biden campaign were nowhere near anything resembling order. Amnesty for illegals, reforming the prison system, destroying industries, and combatting undefinable ideas like systemic racism were the issues they championed. That essentially narrowed down their campaign to two different strategies. Number one was obvious, Biden isn’t Trump. The other was identity politics.
To campaign on identity politics, you just have to pick out all of the causes that single issue groups care about and claim that you have the answer. This tends to work on the campaign trail, even if those causes are in conflict. Joe says he is a devout Catholic, religion crowd, check. Joe says he is pro choice, abortion crowd, check. Joe is gonna combat climate change, enviro-nuts, check. Joe is for jobs, hell he is lunch-bucket Joe.
Now, instead of pandering to an isolated crowd with isolated issues, Joe has to govern. He is trying to show progress quickly with Executive Orders, and the press will do their job to help prop him up, but the results that give away the lies are coming in.
The executive action to combat climate change is killing jobs. Not just a few either, thousands. The memorandum he signed concerning federal regulations pretty much guarantees an avalanche of confusing rules and procedures are on the way. There is no way of knowing how the orders concerning racial equity will be put into practice. And the mess that is already starting to occur on the southern border is just a preview of the things to come down there.
This is before we get into the knock down fights that are coming concerning legislation. The COVID relief bill is being packed full of liberal bad ideas like a 15 dollar an hour federal minimum wage, and the holy grail of amnesty. The moderates of the party are not going to go along easily.
And then there is this whole other area that the Biden team is already starting to hose up. Foreign policy. If someone could point out a direction there, I am sure the world would like to see it. Apart from threatening Burma, appeasing Iran, and letting China do what it wants while Joe takes it slow, we have no cohesive strategy. It looks a lot like Obama’s “America is Sorry” approach so far.
I would say we are heading for a s**t show, but I think we are already in it.
