Will Joe Biden Make It the First 100 Days as President?

I think the odds are about even at this point. While there is plenty of evidence that Joe is just not in charge of his faculties, he is still able to perform on demand. He can make it in front of the camera long enough to sign a few papers, and even read from note cards that he is given. He also has a devoted set of handlers that are quick to end public appearances and yell over reporter’s questions. The charade may be able to make it 100 days. We will have to see how long the press puts up with his lack of availability. Based on his campaign, it may be a while.
That doesn’t mean the players aren’t looking at the way the chairs are laid out. The powers behind the curtain are already laying the groundwork for Harris to step in:
When President Biden has delivered remarks or held photo ops during the first two weeks of his administration, Vice President Harris has been a consistent presence, always in the room if not right by his side.
The White House has painted a deliberate picture of a president and vice president in lockstep together.
…
When White House aides speak about Biden and Harris, they will often throw in words about Harris being “a governing partner” and how both the president and vice president want to do the work “together.”
“The White House is clearly communicating the president values the VP and she is more of a deputy president than a leader with a discrete portfolio,” said Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons.
This is pretty early for aides to be dropping lines like this to the press. Count the number of times you hear about the Biden-Harris agenda. It is more often than you heard in previous administrations. They are making a point that she is deeply involved. And like mentioned above, you rarely see a public appearance of the president without her in the shot.
An advantage in the current situation is that Joe is the one seen signing all of the highly partisan executive orders (I said “seen” on purpose, there may be some monkey business going on with signatures). Most of these executive orders are highly controversial and will be very unpopular. Many will end up in the courts. When Kamala steps in she can simply do as other presidents have and blame it on the previous administration.
There is also a lot of pressure from the lefties that really want this to happen. No one was excited about another old white doddering guy taking the presidency. They want a woman in there that understands women issues. The fact that she is not white is icing on the cake.
The plan has always been to have Harris take the reigns. It was just couched in a way that made it look like she would run in 2024, not kick the bag of bones out while in office. Like I started this out with though. I think we are about even on whether he makes it through the vaunted 100 days.
