Does Liz Cheney Know Something the Rest of Us Don’t?
Say that a presidential candidate got more votes than any other presidential candidate got in history, but still lost, you wouldn’t just write off their supporters. That would be political suicide. That is exactly what appears to be happening right in front of our eyes with Liz Cheney. You might be tempted to say that she is just doing the Maverick thing that John McCain used to stay in the Senate, but I don’t remember the entire Republican base of a state censuring him when he acted out.
The fact that she is continuing down this path despite her entire base abandoning her might tell us something. It might tell us that she is perfectly happy being voted out, or, that she knows that despite all appearances, she is going to be reelected.
This reminds me of all of the polls that were coming out of the swing states during the presidential race. They showed Biden ahead. I didn’t believe them then, and still don’t. But I think they were to serve a couple of purposes. One, they were meant to sway people over to voting for him, because some people will just vote with the majority to be part on the popular crowd. Another reason, the more important one, was to lay the ground work for a Biden win. You can’t have polls predicting a loss, then have Biden eke out a win. That would just be more fodder for the “stop the steal” protests. The pollsters knew that the fix was in, they just had to play their part of the grand drama.
If you remember, the same thing was showing in the polls for Hillary. The fix was in for her too. It just wasn’t big enough to overcome the landslide for Trump. That is the genesis for her little episode on election night when she screamed “If that f-ing bastard Trump wins, we all hang from nooses”. She was afraid that Trump would uncover the election antics and put them away.
They learned from the Clinton failure. They knew that they had to go a lot bigger. So this time so they put the right people in the right places to help cover their tracks, invalidate investigations, and stonewall information requests. They had truckloads of ballots on stand by if everything else wasn’t enough. They even managed to maintained a slim majority in the House and gained one in the Senate.
As an aside, this is where they almost screwed up. They didn’t fix the down ballot races. That is why they had to go into the Georgia runoffs with all they had. If they lost one of those seats, they wouldn’t be able to make their changes permanent.
So if the right promises get made, and the right republicans are compromised, the entire cabal can stay in power. After all, you need some compromised republicans involved in the tough votes to say that they are bipartisan. Have promises been made to Liz?
