Senate Votes to Acquit Trump
The vote was 57-43 so he had plenty of room. The question I have is how did 7 Republicans vote with the Democrats? The entire thing was unconstitutional. They knew that. They probably know that they are going to be targets in the next primary season as well. Unless they have always been planning to flip over to the Dem side of the aisle.
It was also interesting that the Senate voted to allow witnesses, but then did not call any. This could be because the lawyers for Trump planned to call Pelosi in to testify. There is word that she knew that the riot was going to happen before it did, and did not ask for more security.
The names of the Republicans that voted to impeach are Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. Collins and Murkowski may be safe in a primary battle, but I’m not so certain about the others.
John Solomon over at Just the News is reportedly trying to get documents out of the House detailing what Pelosi knew before the riots. I hope he gets the goods, but they will hide as much as they can.
