Surrounding the capital with troops and fencing immediately after the riots of January 6th is at least explainable. Though it is a stretch, especially when they had specific intel of problems before the 6th and they turned down the offer of help. To keep all of the troops there afterward is starting to look like something other than a response to intel. It looks like fear.
Here is a bit of news that is being ignored by most of the outlets though:
The US Supreme Court is set to consider President Trump’s voter fraud cases in Pennsylvania, Georgia and Michigan on Friday.
The excuse so far from the Democrats on the hill is that the troops are staying there until the original inauguration day of March 4th.
In a statement Thursday, the National Guard said about 7,000 troops would remain in Washington through the “end of the month.” But there is concern among some city and federal authorities that protesters might return to Washington in early March on the original presidential inauguration date, March 4.
Six southern states left the union after Abraham Lincoln was elected in November and before his inauguration in March, a period known as “Secession Winter.”
I think the troops are there until the Supreme Court decides one way or another. Remember that all of the cases so far have been dismissed on procedural grounds. Not a one has heard any of the evidence. If it does, it might go bad for the empty shell that is sitting on a very precarious throne.
