The FBI knew that they didn’t have any information that would point to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. That wasn’t the point. The point was to dig around until they could find something, anything.
In order to justify their actions they would conduct what they said could be a game called “collusion clue”:
BARNETT and others joked about how the investigation into collusion could be made into a game, which they referred to as ‘Collusion Clue,'” the DOJ summary of Barnett’s interview read. “In the hypothetical game, investigators are able to choose any character conducting any activity in any location and pair this individual with another character and interpret it as evidence of collusion.
That quote was from William Barnett, who was one of the lead agents in the case. All of this information is coming from new documents that were unclassified in the last few days of the Trump administration. John Solomon has an excellent story covering this information at Just the News.
There is also news that there may finally be some indictments coming out of the Durham investigation. The guess from Peter Navarro is three. He was on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo:
Bartiromo pressed Navarro on his prediction of three indictments from Durham, and his answer was a bit deflating. He told her that his prediction was based on the reporting earlier this week by John Solomon with respect to the release of additional FBI internal documents on the activities of FBI informant Stefan Halper in the summer of 2016 to target individual Trump campaign members in order to locate one who might be working with the Russians to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton.
That seems pretty light on the number of indictments. We all knew that this criminal conspiracy reached all the way to the top. It seems that either we can’t get the right people to flip, or that the weasels have protected themselves too well.
