The Biden administration has said that they are open to studying reparations. They support congress forming a commission to look at the issue. They are trying to pull a fast one though. As I have said previously, the Obama administration has already paid out over a billion dollars to selected minority groups. It came in the form of a class action lawsuit against the government by minority farmers who claimed they were discriminated against. The ruling was dubbed Pigford.
Initially, the ruling was supposed to cover about 91 people. Then it exploded into Pigford #2. There was an estimated number of supposed harmed parties of around 19,000 people. To qualify for a claim, a minority had to say that they had “thought about” applying for loans to become a farmer. Saying that, and providing a statement that they had tried to grow something , got them an easy 50,000 dollars.
That was not a high standard. The fund to cover the payouts was expanded from the initial 120 million to 1.25 billion in 2010. On top of the payments that have already been made, the American Rescue Act that is in the Senate has even more money for the same thing.
The $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package being pushed by President Biden puts more than $1 billion toward “socially disadvantaged” farmers and related groups — including an equity commission, agricultural training and other assistance to advance racial justice in farming.
“Socially disadvantaged” farmers are defined as those who are part of a group that has been discriminated against because of their race or ethnicity.
That sounds awfully close to the Pigford case. Who are they going to lavish money on now that hasn’t already been paid? The minorities covered by the initial payout consisted of “not only blacks, but Hispanics, Native Americans, and females.” This is blatant theft of taxpayer money to give to minorities.
Now they want to start giving free college away. In an interview to Axios, Senior White House advisor Cedric Richmond says:
“We have to start breaking down systemic racism and barriers that have held people of color back and especially African Americans,” Richmond told the outlet. “[W]e have to do stuff now.”
“If you start talking about free college tuition to [historically black colleges and universities] and you start talking about free community college in Title I and all of those things, I think that you are well on your way,” he continued, noting that a timeline for Congress’ commission was not known.
This is not how you encourage unity within a divided country. The more people that realize they are being bilked by the government the worse it will become. Especially when it is realized that it is just a giveaway. It you happen to be a minority, you just won a bunch of money.
