Despite spending billions of dollars funding international organizations, it seems all that we pay for is Chinese policy and propaganda. Why would we continue to feed the neighbor’s dog that bites us?
One example is the World Health Organization. The Trump Administration removed the US from that discredited body when it was revealed that they are just a mouthpiece for the CCP. This is from an article in the Economic Times:
US President Donald Trump recently announced he would put a hold on America’s funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), accusing the UN health body of becoming “China-centric” during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
[…]
“It’s not like the WHO has been a highly-credible organization for many years. The United States spends over half a billion dollars on the WHO. China spends about USD 40 million dollars on the WHO, about one-tenth of what the US spends, and yet the WHO has become a tool of Chinese propaganda,” he alleged.
President Biden has since rejoined that cesspool of wastefulness. This means we will continue to throw cash at the hostile bureaucrats that run the place.
And while some eagerly await the release of the WHOs report on the origin of the COVID-19 virus, most people have already forgotten about it. That was probably part of the intent in keeping it under wraps for so long. Another reason, is that despite what China is saying about the report, there is a lot of skepticism about its truthfulness. It turns out that China controlled every aspect of the investigation into the origins of the virus. This effectively ensured that the only conclusion that could be reached was in the CCP’s interests. It is said that the report will show that the infection originated in animals before infecting humans. This is in contrast to evidence that says it most likely originated in a Chinese lab.
The UN is another international stooge for the Chinese that milks the United States’ taxpayer. The US is its largest contributor providing over 22 percent of its total budget. China provides 12 percent. But when the international agency was asked to conduct an investigation into the treatment of the Muslim Uyghur minority, the UN decided to wait until the Chinese could get the place in order.
The United Nations will not move to verify reports Muslim Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities are being persecuted in China until the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) gives permission, U.N. secretary-general Antonio Guterres confirmed Sunday.
There are a lot of other places that our government can send our money and achieve more value than the undermining of our policy goals. Better yet, why not just stop stealing it from the taxpayers in the first place. The WHO and the UN certainly suck, but so does the Endowment for the Arts. Those are just some of the most egregious examples. The more money we can remove from government, the more we restrict its power.
