Critical Race Theory (CRT) is an inherently racist view that since all of the founders were white men, the documents that they created, which our legal principles are founded on, are oppressive to people of color. Here is a blurb that I got from Britannica:
Critical race theorists hold that the law and legal institutions in the United States are inherently racist insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, especially African Americans.
From this theory, it follows that because institutions are built inside of the law, those are racist and favor whites as well. So here is where the idea white privilege comes in. In this hierarchy, white men are on top.
Some policies, like affirmative action, are efforts to combat this supposed privilege. Everyone that is not white, is given favor to level out the playing field. Here is where the idea of equity comes in. What this actually creates is a reverse structure of power. The most maligned against groups of society are given the most power to be “equitable.”
This creates a societal construct where white men are actually on the bottom, with white women just above them, and then you can fill in the other races of men, followed by the same race of women, and so on. But even within each layer there is oppression of the “others.” These would be the protected classes of gay, lesbian, trans, and down the line. So the layers of power in this model have layers themselves.
All of this results in a reality where the supposedly most privileged, are the most oppressed. Becoming a member of a protected class is one way to escape the very bottom. Here is a little bit of data from Statista.
CRT had its beginnings in the late 80s, and began to pick up steam in the academic circles in the 90s. The former President Obama was actually a friend of one of its founding partners, Derek Bell. Obama can probably be credited with the beginning of the acceptance of this dangerous idea. Many of his actions during his presidency were if not overtly hostile to white men, they were biased against them. The cause of the famous “Beer Summit” was the result of letting his biases show. The last few years saw the largest acceptance of this racist theory.
The data in these graphs tends to support what I am saying. It could also just be a coincidence, but it is something to think about. I am not suggesting that white men are consciously making a decision to be gay, but there are societal pressures to be other than straight white males. And now these pressures are being applied to children in grade school.
