The Democrats and the federal government (I know, the same) have been talking about “extremism in the ranks” of the military and police forces in the country since January 6th. So far, they haven’t found much to hang their hat on. The young lady that was killed by a police officer in the capitol was an Air Force veteran, and maybe a reservist or two have been caught up as well. But no real sightings of the bigfoot they they knew was there.
Well now, unfortunately for this guy, they have pulled one out of the hat. An active duty Marine Corp Major has been arrested. He was captured on video tussling with police, and seen holding a door open to the capitol so others could get in. He was apparently recognized by fellow service members when the cops showed his picture around Quantico. This is at The Military Times:
An active-duty Marine officer stationed in Quantico, Virginia, was arrested Thursday and charged with crimes related to the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6, the District of Columbia U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Maj. Christopher Warnagiris, 40, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was charged “with federal offenses that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder; and obstruction of justice, among other charges,” according to a Thursday press release.
This is the first active duty service member to be arrested. He also just happens to be what is called a “Field Grade Officer” because he holds the rank of Major. So the Feds also get to make the claim that leadership within the military has been compromised by extremism.
I feel bad for this guy. He doesn’t have a chance. They are going to use this to paint all kinds of unfriendly pictures of the services. I imagine Pelosi is working up a few soundbites right now. This will also be held out aw a good reason to continue and maybe intensify the purge of right leaning troops from the service.
Well folks, the out of control truck just picked up speed. Hang on for the ride.
