For the purpose of the Paris Climate Agreement, China is considered a developing nation. I am not sure exactly what the criteria was to make that determination, but it is lucrative. The agreement says that China gets to continue pumping whatever they want into the atmosphere until the year 2030, when it is supposed to peak. After that, they sill start reducing their output. This is from Ballotpedia:
Pledging to reach “peak” CO2 emissions by 2030 means that carbon dioxide emissions will not continue to rise, on net, after 2030. Chinese officials claim that the country has already lowered CO2 emissions per unit of GDP by 33.8 percent of 2005 levels; increased use of non-fossil fuels; increased forested areas compared to 2005 levels; and increased renewable energy capacity.[6]
The agreement also says that developed will provide support to the developing ones. What does that mean?
Article 10 of the agreement states that developed countries shall provide “[s]upport, including financial support,” to developing countries for technology development and transfer.[3]
Additionally, developed countries were “strongly urge[d]” to increase their financial support for developing countries, building on a joint goal of $100 billion per year by 2020, and to increase that goal before 2025.[10][3]
Sounds like a great deal, especially the technology transfer language. That would basically just legalize what China does to the US now. If you look at a some of their military aircraft, they look eerily similar to what the US has produced.
So when the Chinese propaganda outfit, the Global Times prints an article about their Mars rover’s impending landing, I wonder why we signed up to be fleeced so completely. How can they claim to be a developing nation while putting rovers on alien worlds?
The whole climate agreement has very little to do with the climate, and a hell of a lot more to do with wealth redistribution on a global scale. If our leadership signs up for this again, they are beyond idiots, they are hard core pinkos as well.
Is there any wonder that China is pushing so hard to get the US to lead this thing? They get to sound like they are on the high ground while polluting as much as they want, and fleecing US taxpayers at the same time.
