I know this is a lefty rag, and you will see plenty of clues in it like “Trump’s debunked bla bla,” but this article is worth a read. It looks at the investigation from a lot of different angles, and shows some of the biases that led to the discounting of the lab leak theory early on.

It also shows the influence that money had over some of the actors. Livelihoods were at stake all over the place, and even though obvious conflicts abounded, some of the roadblocks put up by compromised individuals were left to stand far too long.

It is a pretty long read, but it is worth it.
